We thought it would be nice to give you a sneak-peek behind the scenes as we’re getting close to sending out the first Knops. Today, we will be showing you our process of how the packaging of Knops was designed.
We started out on thinking about the size of the Knops packaging. The box needed to feel special, in line with the product. At first, we went for a bit of a bulky box. Bigger is better, people sometimes say, but we realized this wasn’t the case for Knops. A bigger box meant more material, which we did not like because of environmental reasons. Furthermore, the bulky box didn’t feel as sleek as Knops and this box wouldn’t fit through a regular mailbox. We tried out several smaller sizes until we found the one that had that Knops feel.
Less is more
We had a clear idea for the graphic design of the Knops packaging; it needed to show the product and what it does. As little text as possible, we like to let the product speak for itself in our iconic style. This doesn’t mean we didn’t pay any attention to it. On the contrary, we looked at every letter, every detail, and every space on the packaging, until it felt as balanced as the product inside the packaging.
The final packaging design
We feel the final design really complements the product in both look and feel. The cleverly designed sleeve even has a nice window that shows the four Knops settings as you slide the tray out. Even though we can go on and on about the design, we feel like we’ve kept you waiting long enough now. So, without further ado, here it is, the final design for the Knops packaging (picture is from a couple of weeks ago, so contains old Knops prototypes that look different than our final product looks):

It has been a long road to get here. Now that we have the final packaging design finished, another big step has been taken towards the finalization of Knops. We hope you are as excited as we are about the packaging from seeing these images. If you are (or aren’t), don’t hesitate to let us know!
