What is hearing damage?
When you temporarily or permanently hear less because of physical damage to your ears, we speak of hearing damage. This can occur because the cilia in your ear are damaged or overcharged. Normally your cilia are only damaged temporarily and able to recover. However, if your ears are exposed to noise/music for a longer period of time, damage can be permanent and irreversible.
The 4 Knops settings help you filter out surrounding sound to your liking. At work? Use the first or second setting. Need some peace on the train? Bump it up to setting 3. Want to protect your ears at a party? Setting 4 is the way to go!

When is loud too loud?
Noise can already be too loud from 80dB and up. At 100dB, you are at risk of acquiring accute and/or permament hearing damage. At live music, in clubs and at festivals, sound is often louder than 100dB. This can have horrible consequences for you hearing, like ringing in your ears or (partial) deafness. This is a big problem, as these statistics show: about 466 million people worldwide have hearing loss and it is estimated that by 2050 over 900 million people will have hearing loss.
